Wilsonville Wastewater Treatment Plant Project
Clean Water for Tomorrow

Project Highlights

Six Facts You Should Know About Wilsonville’s Wastewater Treatment Plant

  1. Wilsonville’s wastewater plant is old, worn out and undersized.  Wilsonville’s plant is nearing capacity and suffering costly repairs due to timeworn equipment.  The City must move immediately to replace, upgrade and upsize key facilities.
  2. Wastewater system improvements are needed now to support Wilsonville’s current customers.  The lack of available treatment capacity already prevents Wilsonville’s current industrial customers from increasing production and creating jobs.
  3. New regulations demand improvements to the existing treatment processes.  As Wilsonville grows, it will become more difficult for the wastewater plant to meet new federal/state requirements for its discharge permit and biosolids disposal.
  4. Wastewater plant neighbors are suffering unacceptable impacts.  Chronic odor problems harm community livability and undermine Wilsonville’s image.
  5. The Design - Build - Operate method for the wastewater plant is expected to create significant schedule and cost efficiencies.  A similar public/private partnership has been used to successfully operate Wilsonville’s award-winning drinking water treatment plant since 2002.  The City of Wilsonville will continue to own the wastewater plant and collection system.
  6. Now is the one-time window of opportunity to meet Wilsonville’s immediate wastewater treatment needs, and take advantage of favorable financial conditions: low interest rates and competitive construction costs.
